Built in 2008 as part of the Remaking Barnsley Initiative The Core is a modern and vibrant building in the heart of Barnsley town centre, conveniently located close to the Travel Interchange with links to Sheffield, Leeds, Wakefield and Huddersfield.

The Core offers a wide range of office accommodation and conference facilities and with state of the art technology it is an ideal venue for a variety of events including conferences, meetings, lectures, training courses, interviews and counselling, all at affordable prices.

The Core is managed by Voluntary Action Barnsley and we pride ourselves on excellent customer service and we will always try to be as flexible as possible to meet your requirements. We are a community focused organisation however we can cater for all sectors at competitive prices.

All our meeting rooms are fully fitted with the latest in audio visual technology and each room has a ceiling mounted multi-media projector and presentation screen and our IT Support Officer will be on hand to help you set up. All of which are included in the price of the room. The rooms can all be set up flexibly to suit your needs.

We also have a variety of different sized offices ranging from 1 person work station in a shared office to larger offices (up to 862 square feet) and the rental package for tenants is all-inclusive including:

In addition, stationery costs will be reduced as day to day paper for printing is included and other costs will be lower because of the discounts available to tenants on meeting rooms and other services, and the benefits of being able to capitalise on bulk purchasing.

The Core is fully compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act with a Fire Evacuation Lift, which gives full lift access even in the event of a fire. It is fitted with all the latest in safety equipment including an on site defibrillator and trained fire marshalls and First Aid Staff.

The Core was built with sustainable features such as a biomass boiler, glazing with high thermal insulation, solar control and the sedam roof garden provides both insulation as well as a leisure space for staff, tenants and visitors. A secure storage is available for bicycles, a shower available to use after exercise or cycling to work, electronic information readily available about public transport and confidential recycling for the building. The Core is an excellent example of how a modern building should cater for visitors and staff whatever their level of accessibility.
